Why questioning and standards are important:

Story 1

I got sick and tired of having no standards. Sick of not being a savage, not having my own opinion, being scared of walking away, having to listen to someone when I don’t feel like listening, tied down to certain people that I don’t want around, always worried about making everyone happy, dealing with people whose don’t respect my mood, and choosing others over myself. The list goes on and on.

I asked myself, Why? Then with a sheet of paper proceeded to analyze. How did I end up like that? Why am I following those behaviors? I started changing myself to fit my current needs and It didn’t matter if it took years.

I finally prioritized to make myself happy. Trying to be as nice as I can without stepping into my boundaries.

Story 2

Joe woke each day and let the day choose his path. He said yes when he wanted to say no. He stayed when he should have left. When rain fell on his day off, he went back to bed and called it a fate, friends picked the songs, the games, the place to meet, Joe had no opinion, He backed down when disrespected, He tried to make everyone else happy and totally forgot about himself.

Joe moved through life on rails. He copied whatever worked, took the tasks others avoided. He never asked, “What do I want? Who is Joe?” Without questions, He nodded through meetings, agreed to plans that drained him. Years passed. On a late bus he finally whispered, “Why am I here?” The answer did not come, he couldn’t figure it out. Joe never found the courage to question himself thus nothing changed.

On the other hand,

Kevin was the kind of person who asked Why before every decision. Though carefully before every action. When a trait looked old, he tapped to see if it would go. Kevin prioritized work that mattered to him, and said no in a polite way without guilt. he began to get his way in life and people around had to respect his traits,

The path was forged by Kevin, handful by handful, rock by rock making him way happier in life. It all started with a simple question, “Why”

  • Why am I letting my environment dictate my choices?
  • Why do I think, feel, and act the way I do?
  • What past experiences shaped who I am today?

  • What high-quality traits do I need to develop to thrive?

  • What is the smallest part a problem I can understand first?
  • How can breaking this into smaller parts make it easier to master?

Endless Self-Questioning

  • What is the next question I should be analyzing right now?
  • What part of my life deserves my immediate focus and analysis?
  • What is the next thing about myself I need to fully understand?
